Conflict Resolution Grand Summary

 Grand Summary:

Managing conflicts effectively is an important part of personal and professional development, and ideas from different sources agree on the necessity of developing conflict resolution skills. In the videos and articles I have gathered, all of them agree that conflict is normal in life and they stressed over learning how to deal with conflict in your daily situations.

In the video 'Mysteries of life - Tim and Moby describes the need of understanding emotions, using non-violent communication strategies and managing reactions when faced with arguments or disagreements. The effective tools to use is active listening, understanding others point of views, and the use of meditation is great to resolve conflict. This video is relatable as it helps not only resolving conflicts professionally but personally as well.

Similarly, the article " Recognizing conflict resolution and applying strategies to resolve conflict" introduces the conflict resolution strategies in a workplace setting. It introduces Thomas Kilman's approach to conflict resolution and proposes five different models and techniques; forcing, collaboration, compromising, accommodating, avoiding. The article emphasizes the three R's of effective conflict resolution: Recognize, React, and Resolve. The focus on empathy, active listening, and patience is similar with the video's focus on interpersonal skills, highlighting the relevance of these ideas at all levels. This article is relatable as well, because it also helps to resolve conflict personally and professionally.

The video "Beauty of Conflict" emphasizes that kindness and compassion is important to handle conflict effectively. The speaker shares some practical strategies to resolve conflict effectively. She defines "amygdala hijacking," which causes us to react emotionally rather than rationally. Some of the strategies she shared were to understand others point of views and to remain calm and then react. The personal experiences she shared and the mantra which is to handle all the disagreements and arguments with kindness and compassion is really helpful. These strategies are really helpful and will help me in my future career growth and life.

The video " A hostage negotiator on how to resolve conflict" describes conflict resolution in everyday life and stresses on the key element curiosity to understand other people's point of view. The video proposes that understanding person through curiosity can lead to resolve conflict and can build better relationships. She proposes the three questions to ask: Did you allow the other’s personal story to be independent of yours? ;Did you want to hear their story without emotion or verbal response? ;Did you make their story part of the solution?. The strategies provided in the video is really motivating and helpful as they are coming from a person who have used them in her life and are really effective.

Similarly, the article "Conflict Resolution Techniques" describes the conflicts in relationships and how to manage them effectively. It also describes that unresolved conflicts leads to relationships and bonds to end and can cause mental harm to a person. Inappropriate behaviors like explosive reactions, withdrawal of affection and avoiding conflict altogether can be changed by appropriate behaviors like expressing yourself calmly and by showing empathy can lead to resolving of a conflict rather than worsening the situation. I can personally relate to this article as by simply changing the tone can be a really big difference in approaching a situation.

In conclusion, the information gathered from various sources shows that Conflict can be used as a medium to build healthier relationships than just to solve problems. By handling and managing conflict effectively by using skills and strategies one can build great bonds. Conflict resolution can be used as a pillar to strengthen relationships both professionally and personally. All the sources I have gathered describes different strategies but is really helpful for my future career growth and my present study period.
